Sharp Laboratories of Europe (SLE) (www.sle.sharp.co.uk) is an integral part of Sharp Corporation of Japan. At SLE research is conducted into future generations of display technology, an area in which Sharp Corporation is a world market leader. The available 12 month placement is for a physicist to join a small and innovative team, part of a larger, inter-disciplinary displays group. The post may involve fabrication and characterisation of novel devices for use in flat panel displays (LCD and OLED), test and measurement of optical components, optical modelling/simulation and image data processing. The post requires someone with a strong interest in applied research and good practical skills.
