SUMMER STUDENTSHIPS: Child health research

The Trustees of the Child Health Research (CHR) CIO have once again agreed to fund the Summer
Vacation Studentship Scheme for this year. Up to ten studentships will be available for
undergraduate students studying science or medicine with maintenance support of £190 per week
for a period of up to eight weeks. You must be at least in your second undergraduate year when
applying and preference will be given to applicants who do not yet have any research experience and
would therefore particularly benefit from working on a summer project.

These are not clinical placements and it is not possible to fund the costs of overseas visits. The
projects must be based entirely in the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health.
The Institute's areas of research are as follows:
  • Developmental Biology and Cancer
  • Developmental Neurosciences
  • Genetics and Genomic Medicine
  • Infection, Immunity, Inflammation
  • Population, Policy and Practice
Our laboratories are modern and well equipped and we also have excellent facilities for those
carrying out research in non-laboratory subjects. You can find out more about the research carried
out in the Institute of Child Health on our website www.ucl.ac.uk/ich/research
The Institute is located in Guilford Street and the nearest tube station is Russell Square (Piccadilly
Line).

If you wish to be considered for a summer vacation studentship for work to be carried out in the UCL
Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, please complete the Application Form which can be
found on the Child Health Research Summer Studentship Scheme website
(https://www.ucl.ac.uk/ich/education/fellowships-studentships/summer-vacation-studentships) and
send this, together with a copy of your CV, to ich.chratsum@ucl.ac.uk. Shortlisted applications will
be forwarded as appropriate for further consideration.

Closing Date: FRIDAY 9TH MARCH 2018
