See below a summary of some of the main upcoming central Careers Service events for students. Note: the web quicklinks to events advertised on CareerConnect work if logged in as a student or graduate (unfortunately, they don’t work for staff).
(i) Not sure what you’ll do when you finish your current studies?

● Career Insights Day ( Weds 25 April , 2-5pm, Workroom 1, 38 Mappin Street) - come and talk informally to people working in science & healthcare (inc. Physician Associate and allied health professions; NHS scientists and technicians; Science / medical comms; Patent attorney; Data science) plus digital/IT, publishing, museum education, community development, international development, environment, conservation and more. A great opportunity to find out more about what’s involved in different occupations and pick up tips about how to get into that sort of work. No question is too silly! ● Confused about your career? 10 Steps to finding your dream job ( 1 May 4-6pm) Practical workshop where you can explore some practical tools to enable you define what your dream job might look like, and how to move towards a satisfying career. (iii) Need practical help to negotiate recruitment processes?
The Careers Service offers a range of resources to help you with CVs, covering letters, application forms, psychometric tests, interviews and assessment centres. Our ‘bitesize’ talks/workshops provide a handy introduction to the topic whilst our interactive workshops give you the opportunity to put your skills into practice and get feedback on your performance.

Whether you’ve got a specific question about the recruitment process or you just need help to get started thinking about your future, book a one-to-one careers appointment with a Careers Adviser for support. The easiest way to book in via CareerConnect in MUSE.
If you are in your final year, don’t forget that you can use the Careers Service for up to three years after graduation so remember to register as a graduate on CareerConnect before you graduate!
