GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES - Ark Teacher Training


The education charity Ark exists to give all of our pupils access to a great education and the opportunity to go onto a career or university of their choice. We have our own Outstanding teacher training programme, which trains graduates to become fantastic teachers in a fully immersive and supportive environment of one of our schools - we have 36 across London, Birmingham, Portsmouth and Hastings.

On our programme, our trainees are able to have an impact on pupils’ progress straight away, potentially even inspiring them onto studying at Sheffield! We are looking to reach out to those with the subject knowledge in Physics and who are considering a career in teaching; we think final year students in your faculty could very much fit that profile.

One of our final year students took part in a  Mitacs Globalink Research Internship last summer. This is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates, which we advertise every year. International Women's Day 2022 #BreakTheBias

  International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year we are called upon to  #BreakTheBias . From the International Women's Day 2022 website:  "Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all  #BreakTheBias. PLACEMENT: 12 month Industrial Placement with SHARP Laboratories of Europe

Sharp Laboratories of Europe (SLE) (www.sle.sharp.co.uk) is an integral part of Sharp Corporation of Japan. At SLE research is conducted into future generations of display technology, an area in which Sharp Corporation is a world market leader. The available 12 month placement is for a physicist to join a small and innovative team, part of a larger, inter-disciplinary displays group. The post may involve fabrication and characterisation of novel devices for use in flat panel displays (LCD and OLED), test and measurement of optical components, optical modelling/simulation and image data processing. The post requires someone with a strong interest in applied research and good practical skills.
