Summary:

Applications are invited for a three-month Computer Programmer to work in the School of Mathematics and Statistics (SoMaS). The opportunity arises following the award of IIKE funding to Professor Lucy Wyatt.

We have software written mostly in C which takes radar data from a monostatic radar system (co-located receiver (Rx) and transmitter (Tx)) located on the coast looking at the ocean and converts it into ocean wave, current and wind measurements. The software solves an integral equation amongst other things. We have the theoretical basis for extending this to a bistatic radar system (Rx and Tx separated) and we want to modify our existing code to handle this configuration. The successful candidate will carry out this modification working closely with the PhD student who developed the bistatic formulation and Prof. Wyatt.

You will have experience in Mathematical Programming in C, as well as familiarity with Linux operating systems (preferably debian/ ubuntu). A good background in Mathematics is also desirable and candidates are likely to have completed- or be working on- an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or Engineering.

Applying:

In order to apply, please email your CV and an accompanying statement to Professor Lucy Wyatt (l.wyatt@sheffield.ac.uk).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to partake in an interview.
