If you're coming to the end of your time at University and thinking about your next steps, this session will offer practical and positive ideas around your career options and the future you, where to look for graduate opportunities and uncovering some hidden gems of the graduate jobs market.

There will be a break for lunch and then a session on how to make winning applications and the chance to get some feedback on your CV.

Open to all final year and PGT students.

One of our final year students took part in a  Mitacs Globalink Research Internship last summer. This is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates, which we advertise every year. Here is their story: I originally applied to the program following an advertising email from the university in the summer of 2020, thinking I will never get it because I am not the best physicist. International Women's Day 2022 #BreakTheBias

  International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year we are called upon to  #BreakTheBias . From the International Women's Day 2022 website:  "Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all  #BreakTheBias. Sharp Laboratories of Europe (SLE) (www.sle.sharp.co.uk) is an integral part of Sharp Corporation of Japan. At SLE research is conducted into future generations of display technology, an area in which Sharp Corporation is a world market leader. The available 12 month placement is for a physicist to join a small and innovative team, part of a larger, inter-disciplinary displays group. The post may involve fabrication and characterisation of novel devices for use in flat panel displays (LCD and OLED), test and measurement of optical components, optical modelling/simulation and image data processing. The post requires someone with a strong interest in applied research and good practical skills. The successful applicant will be self-motivated and able to understand and contribute to a research project quickly.
