Gradcracker Physics Employability Seminar : Wednesday 30 October 2019

This Wednesday sees the visit of Gradcracker, who will be updating us on their recent interactions with a wide range of employers and sharing their insights into recruitment procedures. We will also learn exactly what they are expecting from applicants and how to make the most of the application process, interviews, assessment centres and other selection activities. 
 

They will answer these frequently asked questions, and more:

  • What do they like?
  • What don't they like?
  • How should I manage my way through their application process?
  • How should I behave at an interview or during an assessment centre?
  • What jobs and placements are available for me as a physics graduate?

One of our final year students took part in a  Mitacs Globalink Research Internship last summer. This is a competitive initiative for international undergraduates, which we advertise every year. International Women's Day 2022 #BreakTheBias

  International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year we are called upon to  #BreakTheBias . From the International Women's Day 2022 website:  "Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all  #BreakTheBias. At SLE research is conducted into future generations of display technology, an area in which Sharp Corporation is a world market leader. The available 12 month placement is for a physicist to join a small and innovative team, part of a larger, inter-disciplinary displays group. The post may involve fabrication and characterisation of novel devices for use in flat panel displays (LCD and OLED), test and measurement of optical components, optical modelling/simulation and image data processing.
