• Are you a postgraduate researcher? • Would you like to add to your work experience alongside your PhD? • Do you need to develop skills, build networks or improve your understanding of the career opportunities open to you? • Are you looking to make informed career choices and improve your chances of being offered your next position? • Could you benefit from a financial award to cover expenses, unpaid experience or costs to allow you to do this? The Postgraduate Researcher Experience Programme (PREP) has been established to enable researchers to add to their experience. It encourages you to get the experience, information, training, advice or insights you need. It does this by providing an award of between £100 and £1000 that can be used to pay for travel, accommodation, resources, training fees or to provide a small salary to cover your time. It is your responsibility to set up the experience or create the opportunity but if you can do that, the scheme can cover some or all of the

CAREERS: Mock Assessment Centre

We have recruiters from organisations such as Teach First, PwC, KPMG, Sagar Wright, British Steel and the Civil Service who you will have the opportunity to meet with and learn from. During the event you will be involved in three group activities from 'real life' assessment centres to help prepare you to land that dream placement or graduate job. At SLE research is conducted into future generations of display technology, an area in which Sharp Corporation is a world market leader. The available 12 month placement is for a physicist to join a small and innovative team, part of a larger, inter-disciplinary displays group. The post may involve fabrication and characterisation of novel devices for use in flat panel displays (LCD and OLED), test and measurement of optical components, optical modelling/simulation and image data processing. We are going to start our tour in the Factory of the Future, which houses our Machining and Composites groups, and then take a look at the Nuclear AMRC (time permitting).
