JOB: Graduate Physicist - Weatherford International, Reeves Wireline Technologies Ltd

Based at our East Leake Headquarters, we have a requirement for a Physicist/Graduate Physicist. Reporting to the Research Manager, your role will be to develop novel and improve existing instrumentation and interpretation techniques for well logging, primarily in the area of nuclear, electrical and acoustic measurements and to support existing equipment. To do this, you will undertake theoretical studies, computer modelling and laboratory and field experiments. Your intrinsic problem solving and analytical abilities, coupled with commercial environment awareness, will be used to resolve challenges in the development of scientific instrumentation and algorithms.

You will need a minimum of a 2.1 bachelor’s degree, in Physics or a degree with substantive Physics content (a relevant MSc or PhD is desirable), and will be comfortable working with algorithms and data. You should have IT skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. Some experience with MathCad, MatLab or similar numerical/engineering based software packages and/or experience in a programming language such as C++/C#/Python is desirable. In addition you will have a deep intellectual curiosity for technology and problem solving, a strong inter- personal and communication skills, good work ethic and be able to work within a team, and
with minimal supervision. There will be an occasional requirement for UK and international travel.

Hours of work are 36.25 per week, Monday to Friday but flexibility to work additional hours if required is desired. In addition, the company offers opportunities for sponsored study.
