Student Research Engineer Placement: Gill Research and Development - Summer 2019

Are you a Physics student who is enthusiastic, clear thinking, with initiative and an ability to work independently?

Then Gill Research and Development have the placement for you!

You will be involved in the development of new sensing technologies including ultrasonic, optical and electromagnetic principles. You will analyse and informally present findings, engaging in discussions with experts in the field.

The placement will commence between June and October 2019 and run for a year.

International Women's Day 2022 #BreakTheBias

  International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year we are called upon to  #BreakTheBias . From the International Women's Day 2022 website:  "Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Sharp Laboratories of Europe (SLE) (www.sle.sharp.co.uk) is an integral part of Sharp Corporation of Japan. At SLE research is conducted into future generations of display technology, an area in which Sharp Corporation is a world market leader. The available 12 month placement is for a physicist to join a small and innovative team, part of a larger, inter-disciplinary displays group. The post may involve fabrication and characterisation of novel devices for use in flat panel displays (LCD and OLED), test and measurement of optical components, optical modelling/simulation and image data processing. The post requires someone with a strong interest in applied research and good practical skills.
